Last year Professor Carlos Jiménez engaged in a conversation with the editors of the journal, AOA (Asociación de Oficinas de Arquitectos, Chile). Recently published, the journal offers the interview with Professor Jiménez in Spanish and English.On February 23 at 5:30pm Rice’s Fondren Library is honoring professors who have published or edited books or journals, exhibited, or composed in 2011. Wortham Fellow, Neeraj Bhatia and his Infranet partners Lola Sheppard (University of Waterloo), Mason White (University of Toronto), and Maya Przybylski (University of Waterloo) were honored with a 2011-12 ACSA Faculty Design Award for Next North: Architecture in Shifting Terrain. The Rice Design Alliance is the winner of a 2012 AIA Collaborative Achievement Award for excellence in the categories of Research, Dissemination, and Education. RDA is one of two organizations to win this prestigious national award. Only weeks after presenting her thesis project, Sara Hieb has been chosen for the Emerging Terrain Urban Design Fellowship Program in Omaha, Nebraska. A team of RSA students lead by Professor Gordon Wittenberg has been announced as stage one winners in the Parks for the People competition, a joint effort by the Van Alen Institute’s Projects in Public Architecture and the U.S. National Park Service. On January 24, Professors Mark Wamble and Dawn Finley, principals of Interloop–Architecture, exhibited their design for the Houston METRO Central Station. Wamble presented their project, Open Transfer, to a full house buzzing with excitement. On February 15, Dean Sarah Whiting will give a lecture titled S, M, L, XL: Straight up the Middle at the University of California School of Architecture.
