Stephen Redding is a Professional Engineer registered in Texas and 25 other states.  He is a United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED® Accredited Professional and a member of the Rice Design Alliance.  Steve has been a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditional Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) for over 30 years including serving as the 2007-2008 president of the Houston Chapter of ASHRAE.  He has taught the ARCH316 and ARCH516 – Technology IV the Environment course since 2009.   

Redding has been involved in the design of Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing systems in commercial and institutional buildings for his entire career.  From 1971 to 1983 he worked for Lockwood Andrews Newnam, Inc. as a project engineer and operations manager of commercial division.  In 1983 he established Stephen M. Redding PE., Inc. until April 2000 when he formed the engineering firm of Redding, Linden, Burr, Inc.  RLB has been listed by the Engineering News-Record as one of the top 500 firms in the United States.  The firm has also been successfully named in the top 100 engineering companies in the Consulting Specifying Engineer magazine’s “2012, 2011, & 2010 MEP giants” list.   As president and managing principal of Redding, Linden, Burr, he recently negotiated the acquisition of his firm by KCI Technologies, Inc., a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices throughout the eastern and central United States and now serves as Regional Practice Leader for this #74 nationally ranked engineering firm. 

Redding is actively involved in meeting with clients to understand their needs and is involved in the design process from conception to fruition.  He also mentors new engineers through the Engineer in Training (EIT) process and regularly educates Architecture firms on MEP concepts and issues.  The firm is highly respected by peers within the field and clients, with more than 80% of its business from repeat customers.
