Stephen Redding

Stephen Redding is a professional engineer and a US Green Building Council LEED accredited professional. He has been a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. for over thirty years, serving as the Houston Chapter president from 2007–2008. He has taught the Technology IV Environment course at Rice School of Architecture since 2009.   

Redding has designed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in various building typologies throughout his career. He has worked for Lockwood Andrews Newnam, Inc. as a project engineer and operations manager of the commercial division. In 1983, he established Stephen M. Redding PE, Inc. and in 2000, he formed Redding Linden Burr, Inc. (RLB). Redding led MEP design from conception to fruition and interacted with clients. The firm was listed by the Engineering News-Record as one of the top 500 firms in the US, as well as being named in the top 100 engineering companies in Consulting Specifying Engineer magazine’s 2010, 2011, and 2012 “MEP Giants” lists. As president of RLB, Redding negotiated the 2014 acquisition of the firm by KCI Technologies, Inc. Though semi-retired from consulting engineering, Redding assists selective clients with problem resolution, MEP analysis, and project management.
