Profile

Ernesto Alfaro is co-instructor of the History and Theory seminar Introduction to Landscape Architecture. A graduate of Columbia and Rice Universities, he believes that a passion for continuous learning is the most important tool of any design professional. He has over thirteen years of experience in the design and construction industries in Houston, New York, and Montréal. He is currently an Associate at SLA Studio·Land, an urban planning and landscape architecture firm in Houston. Ernesto has collaborated on a wide range of national and international projects, including master planned communities in Xian, China, high-rise LEED-certified residences in Manhattan, boutique landscapes in Las Vegas, urban plazas in Qatar, and cultural museums in Canada. He actively mentors local high-school students interested in pursuing professional design careers and has previously taught and assisted in the development of university-level architectural curricula in Central America.
