Ipek Mehmetoğlu completed her PhD in Architecture at McGill University, Peter Guohua Fu School of Architecture, Montréal, Canada in 2021 as a Fonds de Recherche du Québec scholar. She has taught architectural history and theory at the University of Toronto, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. Her research focuses on gender and sexuality, identity, mobility, biography, and architecture in the postwar period.
