TBD

This seminar is a second iteration focusing on the interaction of architecture, structure and construction. Typically, this discussion is through the lens of tectonics with an embedded emphasis on representation. In this case, we will use generalized definitions of the terms in the title to continue a rebalancing of this discussion towards design process and the constructive friction between the translation of ideas into structural engineering and architecture. Discussion of selected readings in the first three meetings will frame student presentations of built works organized by geometric types for the remainder of the semester.

Advanced knowledge or experience with structural engineering is not a prerequisite for this course, but discussion and analysis will include structural mechanics and the means of construction. You need only be curious about how things are made and how they work to engage in this course
