This seminar will examine the increasing visibility and strategic importance of collaboration in contemporary architectural practice, not as a heroic or ethical model, but as a pragmatic, political, and disciplinary response to the current conditions of architectural production. While architecture has always been a collaborative enterprise, the forms, motivations, and consequences of collaboration are shifting in response to contemporary economic consolidation, changing professional structures, and evolving modes of design authorship. Through conversations and interviews with emerging and established practices working globally, this seminar will study how collaboration is currently operating within architectural practice, what pressures are producing its intensification, and how these arrangements are reshaping agency and process within architecture.
