Lecture Topic: The Paper of Projects
In Spanish, the word "paper" also means "role" or "function." This talk explores the role that paper plays in the Studio's working process. From the conception of the idea, through references and reflections derived from contact with printed books, to its development, which begins with quick sketches, scribbles, and drawings on paper. Then, manual representations are also made on paper, such as collages and models. Afterward, the plans, sections, and elevations are created to represent the imagined space through printed plans. In the construction process, the details and solutions are resolved through hand-drawn sketches on paper made on-site. Finally, the work is completed and photographed to be published in a book.
"The Paper of Projects" by Estudio Macías Peredo tells the story of paper in their work, and how the process begins with books and doesn't end until it becomes a book itself.
