Rice Architecture's podcast features an interview between teacher, scholar, practitioner and activist Dana Cuff and graduate student Rose Wilkowski. Cuff will present the annual Llewelyn-Davies Sahni Innovative Practice lecture titled "Architecture's Long Game: Tedium, Teasers, and Tiny Steps" on Monday, March 4 in Farish Gallery, Anderson Hall as part of the spring 2019 lecture series. This episode of Tête-à-Tête introduces how Dana drew from her own education to inform her approach to architectural education, how her work at cityLAB pulls architecture, urban design, and sustainability together and how these practices can be influential all over the world, including Houston.

Dana Cuff is a professor in the school of architecture and urban design at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is also the director of cityLAB, a think-tank comprised of graduates and practitioners that study urban issues of the emerging metropolis and develop possibilities for our cities to grow more livably, sustainably, and beautifully. 

Cuff received a B.A. in Psychology and Design from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Her publications include Architecture: The Story of Practice, The Provisional City: Los Angeles Stories of Architecture and Urbanism, and Fast Forward Urbanism. 

Rose Wilkowski is a current Master of Architecture candidate who obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. She worked as a designer at Rottet Studio in New York City before beginning her masters degree in the fall of 2016.
