This is the first book to document the work of Johnston Marklee architects. Created in a dialog with a group of artists and critics, this collection of five thematic conversations and residential projects reflects over a decade of the firm's work. The book challenges the typical format of an architectural monograph by introducing the biased view of renowned international artists and by reflecting Johnston Marklee's singular position within the field in an open-ended contemplation.
The book’s design directly reflects its structure. Artist contributions on coated paper are interspersed with texts on uncoated stock, that are set to reflect their conversational tone. Five fold-outs, visible in the section of the book, introduce moments of pause and overview.
