This introductory studio foregrounds form, representation, and organization as the foundations of design culture. Students are introduced to a broad range of architectural concepts and procedures to explore speculative design projects of limited scope and complexity. Design provocations challenge the students to think analytically, gain expertise in analogue and digital techniques, employ diverse representational formats, and work at a range of scales—objects, buildings, city blocks—to address compelling contemporary issues through architecture.
