Since its inception, photography has served as architecture’s primary medium of representation. In this lecture, Javier Agustín Rojas will delve into contemporary photography practices based in Buenos Aires, offering a nuanced perspective on documenting architecture and the built environment.
Speaker Biography
Javier Agustín Rojas is an architect, editor, and acclaimed architectural photographer. From 2014 to 2017, he served as executive editor of PLOT, a leading architecture publication. Now an independent photographer, Rojas collaborates with architects, artists, archives, publishers, and museums, capturing the essence of the built environment.
His debut book, Aire y luz (papiré books, 2024), is a photographic essay that examines how Buenos Aires’ built environment was standardized through the typification of ventilation and light shafts. Rojas is also the director of the Center of Studies of Contemporary Architecture at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, where he continues to shape architectural discourse.
