The summer crew for Rice Architecture's Construct recently finished a major milestone in the construction of their current project "Auxiliary ADU (accessory dwelling unit)." After just six days of working on the roof, the final piece of the corrugated metal was installed. With the help of a few volunteers, the team measured and cut all the metal on site. Then, using a system of ladders and scaffolds, the panel was hoisted 20 feet in the air before being screwed into the exterior sheathing. The 22-gauge steel moves up the east and west walls, wraps around each fillets, and covers the porch between the ADU's split programmatic volumes, adding visual continuity to the project.
