We’re pleased to announce that Andrew Colopy has been promoted to associate professor with tenure and Dawn Finley (M.Arch. '99) has been promoted to professor.

Andrew Colopy conducts research in the field of digital technology and fabrication, including its application in design-build construction in the community. He is co-director of Rice Architecture Construct, which is currently building an accessory dwelling unit in Houston's First Ward. Colopy is also partner and creative director of Cobalt Office, which has been recognized with several awards, including a Design Honor Award (2015) from the American Society of Landscape Architects and a Design-Build Award (2015) from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. Colopy's work includes realized projects for non-profits—The Luminary, Public Media Commons, Riverlands Avian Observatory, and Sheldon Plaza.

Dawn Finley is director of graduate studies at Rice Architecture. Her academic research includes twentieth-century techniques of architectural representation in relation to graphic design, as well as future forms of civic space in the United States. She is currently working on a book featuring the research, writing, and design work of Interloop-Architecture, a Houston-based design office, where she serves as founding principal. The office's projects have received numerous recognitions, including an AIA Houston Design Award (2017) for "Corner House." Clients include The Nasher Sculpture Center, The Menil Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Washington D.C., and the Netherlands Architecture Institute in Rotterdam. Finley also has been honored as an educator with the 2019 AIA Houston Educator of the Year Award and the 2015 DesignIntelligence Top 25 Most Admired Educators.
