Profile

Alan Russell is the executive director of Rice University's Disability Resource Center and ADA Coordinator. Originally from London, he obtained his master’s degree in American history at the University of Sussex and his education doctorate ethical leadership from the University of St. Thomas, Houston. Before joining Rice University, Alan worked for nonprofit organizations in the United Kingdom , advising on accessibility issues. Alan has provided consultancy work at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, delivering a keynote speech and facilitating workshops on disability service provision. Alan is a former commissioner on the Houston Commission on Disabilities and former president of the Texas Association of Higher Education and Disability . During his time at Rice, Alan has earned a Rice Mile Award and Hudspeth Award for his work.
