Overview

Void as an Urban Generator

The Rice Architecture Paris studio addresses the Void as an Urban Generator with a site situated in the heart of Paris with John Casbarian and professors Doug Allard, Federico Pedrini, and Lieven De Boeck from XDGA. Students are faced with a site neighboring the Centre Pompidou and the recently completed Forum Les Halle (La Canopée), that once housed the booming historical central fresh food market. The project is also a possible response from a mini charrette, an exercise in evaluating a possible take on the void, that takes place prior to the studio semester hosted in Houston each fall.
