Profile

Gail Chen is a studio assistant at Rice Architecture, where she also received her Bachelor of Architecture. Her study and work experience in seven cities across three continents lead her academic work. Her interest focuses on both the global and the local implication of architecture through investigation of established urban typologies and human patterns.

Gail’s professional experience includes two urban scaled mix-use complexes with KPF, a boutique hotel with Neri & Hu, and more recently, several retail and residential projects with CONTENT Architecture, and a public art sculpture with Metalab Studio. Her work as a lead designer has received American Institute of Architects Houston Design Award and Houston PaperCity Design Award. Her work has also been published on Dezeen and Texas Architect. She was on the project team of New Corktown: Fifty-year Masterplan for Detroit, a contribution to the American Pavilion of the 2016 Venice Biennial.
